“When I was a child, and started to draw and paint, I would portray images from my inner life. The faces I drew from my imagination often confirmed what was already there, even if I didn’t think about it directly while I was painting.
When I later decided to become an artist and went to art school, my art itself didn’t really change; the motivations and expressions remained basically the same.
My images hold together or fall apart, the unreal processes unfolding side by side with the real ones. The caricatured and the fantastic are deeply connected to the real. Love, loneliness, sadness, energy and joy are always there, along with the satire.
I never plan a form for my paintings; the colors and how to arrange my subject reveal themselves as I paint.“

“Human beings possess the capability for abstraction, and in art, abstraction has the power to select segments of reality and analyze them in an orderly and systematic way. The Greek philosopher Aristotle proposed that all processes of abstraction are born from the analysis of empirical data.
From that mud, from that matter, Luis Hinojosa’s art is born. For him, abstraction is an analysis and representation of plastic elements where composition and aesthetics are configured apart from figurative references. His work reveals dots, lines, curves, colors, geometry, volume, mass, and rhetorical materials that fracture the paintings on their own.
Luis’ art renounces imitation and embraces essential forms, all abstracted from objects present in nature or sensitive reality. This sensitivity mirrors Luis’ personality-a man who feels and lives creation. For him, the sense of a work is not something that reveals interpretation on its own; it unveils poetic and dreamlike aspects. Here lies Luis’ human sensitivity, whose aesthetic consciousness always beats within his work.”
