Most of my painting over the years has been in watercolor technique, where the flow of pigment is a great challenge and happiness.
In acrylics, however, there is the possibility of changes in color and light, which is unthinkable in watercolor painting. To be able to challenge and stretch what color is best, – primary, earth or what?
My pictures here at Uddenberg are worked just like that. As someone said: Be brave Håkan!Or as I myself think: Be musical.

In my painting, I move between different visual worlds that can switch from purely abstract to purely figurative. Most often I find myself in a figurative painting with elements of semi-abstract elements. My working method alternates between intuitive painting and working with models or depictions of reality. Sometimes there is a mix of these.

The most important thing in my painting is light and color. I try to create moods and spaces where the play of light is the most important component. Composition and color composition are also important elements in my image making. I work mainly in watercolor and acrylic. In my watercolor painting, contrasts and opposites have great importance in charging the image. It is light versus dark, wet versus dry, distinct versus diffuse, etc. Different watercolor techniques coexist on the same picture surface. But even my mood pictures in acrylic are based on the fact that there are contrasts and contradictions in the image expression itself. A kind of dualism. I paint a scene where the interpretations can be multiple and ambiguous, but where the viewer himself writes the story.

For me, all painting, both as a practitioner and as a viewer, is really about the desire to touch and the desire to be touched. Going beyond the self and becoming one with something greater.
